The three Friars have helped the Friars post a 19-12 mark this season.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -  It was announced today (March 10) that junior Devin Carter (Miami, Fla.) and graduate student Josh Oduro (Gainesville, Va.) earned All-BIG EAST accolades.  Also announced, freshman Rich Barron (Chicago, Ill.) was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.  Carter was named All-BIG EAST First Team and Oduro earned All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention.  Carter, who received All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention accolades in 2023, received his first All-BIG EAST First Team honor.

Carter, who was named BIG EAST Player of the Week twice this season, became the eighth Friar all-time to lead the league in scoring (21.4 ppg) and the first Friar since Ben Bentil (22.9 ppg) accomplished the feat in 2015-16.  He has had an impressive season for the Friars as he ranks second in the league in scoring in overall action (19.4 ppg) and ranks third in rebounding (8.6).  Carter ranks second in the BIG EAST in defensive rebounds (7.6), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.385), third in minutes (35.2), fourth in three-point field goals made (2.6), fourth in steals (1.7) and 12th in blocked shots (1.0) and assists (3.6).  He has scored 20 or more points 13 times this season (third in the BIG EAST) and he has posted 12 double-doubles (third in the BIG EAST).  Carter has two games with 31 points and 13 rebounds this season -- at St. John's on January 10 and versus DePaul on February 17.  In his final game of the regular season versus UConn on March 9, he scored 24 points, grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds, had four assists, added two steals and made two blocks.

Carter was one of 30 players named to the Naismith Player of the Year Midseason Team .  Carter also was one of 15 players named to the Naismith Defensive Player Of The Year Watchlist on February 7.  He joined Zach Edey (Purdue), Tamin Lipsey (Iowa State) and Kevin McCullar (Kansas) as the only players on the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watchlist and the Naismith Player of the Year Midseason Team.

Oduro, who transferred to Providence in 2023 after spending four seasons at George Mason, ranks second on the team in scoring (16.1 ppg) and he is third rebounding (7.3).  Oduro, who ranks 10th in the league in scoring (16.1), also ranks fifth in the league in blocked shots (1.4), fifth in field goal percentage (.546), seventh in free-throw percentage (.806), seventh in defensive rebounds (5.1), sixth in rebounding (7.3) and ninth in offensive rebounds (2.2).  He has registered five double-doubles this season.  Oduro also has posted eight performances with 20 or more points, including a season-high 32 point effort versus Creighton on February 7.

Barron, who was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on January 22, became the first Friar to earn BIG EAST All-Freshman accolades since Nate Watson in 2018.  He is the team's top three-point shooter.  At 43.2 percent, Barron has connected on 32 of his 74 attempts from behind the arc.  He has started seven of the 30 games he played.  Barron is averaging 4.3 points per game.  He scored a career-high 14 points versus Sacred Heart on December 16.

The Friars (19-12, 10-10) will return to action on Wednesday in the First Round of the BIG EAST Tournament versus Georgetown (9-22, 2-18) at Madison Square Garden at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.  Fans interested in purchasing tickets to Friar games can visit Friars.com or call 401-865-GO PC.
