Women’s Hockey Skates To A 1-1 Tie With Holy Cross; Loses Shootout 2-0.

Lauren DeBlois scored the Friars’ lone goal, while Hope Walinski finished the night with 25 saves.

WORCESTER, Mass.– The Providence College women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie against Holy Cross on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Hart Center Rink in Worcester, Mass. Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) scored the Friars' lone goal, while Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) finished the night with 25 saves.

-The Crusaders struck first 10:57 into the first period when Madison Michals scored with help from Alexia Moreau and Bryn Saarela.
 
-Both teams skated through second period scoreless.
 
-At 10:32 in the third period, Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) and Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) assisted Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) to the equalizer, 1-1.
 
-Both teams were scoreless in overtime, ending regulation at a 1-1 tie.
 
-Holy Cross won the shootout, 2-0, for the extra point in Hockey East standings.

-Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) finished the night with 25 saves. 

 
-Tonight's matchup marks the first game in which Providence has not defeated Holy Cross in the teams' all-time series history.
