Women's Hockey Falls To Brown In 29th Annual Mayor's Cup, 3-2

Hannah Johnson and Lily Martinson each scored one goal for the Friars.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's ice hockey team fell to Brown, 3-2, in the 29th annual Mayor's Cup on Nov. 30 at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. The Bears, who snapped an eight-game winless streak in the Mayor's Cup, improved to 7-5-1. The Friars moved to 7-7-3 on the season.

GAME FLOW / NOTES
• Brown scored two unanswered goals in the first period, despite being outshot by Providence, 9-6.
• Jess Ciarrocchi found the back of the net just 2:22 into the action off a feed from Olivia Fantino.
• Monique Lyons gave Brown a 2-0 lead at the 15:10 mark, assisted by Sam Broz and Margot Norehad. 
• The Friars turned the tables in the second period, scoring two goals to level the score, 2-2.
Hannah Johnson (Readfield, Maine) scored her fifth goal of the season to get the Friars on the board just 46-seconds into the second period. Audrey Knapp (Stevens Point, Wis.) was credited with her sixth assist of the season.
Lily Martinson (Allen, Texas) rifled a slapshot from just inside the blueline for her third goal of the year. She was assisted by Jessie Pellerin (Bowmanville, Ontario) and Peyton Blaney (Millgrove, Ontario).
• Brown outshot the Friars 10-5 in the period and held a 16-14 advantage in shots through two periods overall.
• The Friars killed off two penalties in the second period.
• Brown regained the lead (3-2) just 39-seconds into the third period with a goal from India McDadi, assisted by Jade Iginla and Ava DeCoste.
• McDadi's goal proved to be the game-winner, to help Brown snap an eight-game skid in the Mayor's Cup.
• Hope Walinksi (Lincoln, R.I.) recorded 20 saves in net for the Friars.
