Friars Defeated By Wisconsin On Day Two Of Cancun Challenge, 66-57

Grace Efosa scored a game-high 21 points and Olivia Olsen recorded her third double-double.
CANCUN, MEXICO – The Providence College women's basketball team was defeated by Wisconsin, 66-57, on Nov. 29 in the second game of the Cancun Challege in Cancun, Mexico. Grace Efosa scored a game-high 21 points and Olivia Olsen added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Friars record moved to 3-5 on the season, while the Badgers improved to 6-2.
1ST QUARTER:
• The Friars trailed 7-6 at the first media timeout (4:43).
• Providence used and 11-2 run, including an 8-0 spurt over the final 3:49, to take a 17-11 lead.
• Efosa scored eight of the Friars' 17 points in the quarter, while Olivia Olsen hauled in five of the team's 10 rebounds.
2ND QUARTER:
• Providence extended its run to 13-0 after scoring the first five points of the second quarter (22-11).
• Wisconsin got back on the board at the 7:07 mark, sparking an 8-0 run to get within three (22-19) with 4:50 remaining.
• Marta Morales Romero hit a floater from the left block to extend Providence's lead to 24-19 at the media timeout (4:07).
• Wisconsin outscored Providence 6-2 in the final 1:38 of the quarter to get within one at halftime (26-25).
• Efosa led the Friars with 10 points at halftime on 5-8 shooting from the field.
3RD QUARTER:
• A 5-0 run early in the third gave Wisconsin its first lead since the 3:49 mark of the first quarter (32-30).
• The game was knotted at 32-32 with 6:62 on the clock after a lay-in by Olsen.
• A 12-6 scoring spurt gave Wisconsin an eight-point lead, but back-to-back buckets by Efosa drew the Friars back within four (44-40) heading into the final frame.
4TH QUARTER:
• Providence got within two points on two occasions before Wisconsin went on an 8-0 run to claim a double-digit lead (57-47).
• Kylee Sheppard and Efosa halted Wisconsin's run with back-to-back buckets, forcing Wisconsin to call timeout with 2:29 remaining (57-51).
• In the closing 1:33 of the game, Wisconsin converted 8-8 free throw attempts to seal the game.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Efosa finished with a game-high 21 points on 10-17 shooting. She has scored 20+ points in three games this season and seven times during her career.
• Additionally, Efosa has reached double figures in each of the last seven games.
• Olsen recorded her team-best third double-double of the season and 19th of her career on 10 points and 11 rebounds. She also added a team-high two steals and two blocked shots.
• Morales Romero added nine points for the Friars and Sheppard dished a team-high three assists.
• Wisconsin held a 36-26 advantage on the glass. Olsen (11) and Emily Archibald (six) recorded 17 of the Friars' 26 rebounds.
• Carter McCray led four Badgers in double figures with 19 points on 8-8 shooting. Sarah Williams hauled in a game-high 15 rebounds.
