PROVIDENCE, R.I. --  It was announced on Tuesday that Providence College Head Coach Ray Treacy was named USTFCCA Northeast Region Women's Coach of the Year.  Treacy guided the Friar women's team to the NCAA Northeast Regional title and a third-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championship on November 23.  For Treacy, it marked the 11th time (2024, 2022, 2021, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2013, 2008, 2004, 2003 and 1999) that he has earned the honor on the women's side since the award began in 1998.

For the Friars it was their seventh time finishing in the top three all-time at the NCAAs.  It also was the team's highest finish since the team won in 2013.  The Friar women were making their 32nd appearance and fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Cross Country Championship.

Treacy's women's squad, which ended the year ranked No. 3 in the nation, had a very successful season as they finished second at the BIG EAST Championship, first at NCAA Northeast Regional Championship and third at the NCAA Championship.  He had three of his athletes earn All-America honors at the NCAAs. The Friars were led by senior Kimberly May (Auckland, New Zealand) at the NCAA Championship, as she placed 10th in a time of 19:45.1. Graduate student Alex Millard (Kent, England) completed the race in 20th place (19:51.5).  Graduate student Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton England) placed 24th (19:54.2).

With their top-40 finishes, May, Millard and Flockhart each garnered All-America honors.  For May it was her fifth All-America accolade and first in cross country.  Flockhart claimed her sixth All-America honor.  It also was her first in cross country.  Millard claimed her first All-America honor.
