PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's soccer team defeated the Xavier Musketeers (4-8-5, 1-5-2), 1-0, in the team's final match of the regular season on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on Nov. 2 in Providence, R.I. The Friars finished the regular season with a 10-4-3 overall record including a 5-1-2 mark in BIG EAST play. Senior
Cole Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season to deliver the Friars to the win. With the victory, Providence secured a BIG EAST EAST Division Co-Champion title and the No. 2 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament.

Aidan Davock (Medway, Mass.) took charge of the Friars' attack in the first half, creating two clear goal-scoring opportunities that were both cleared by the Xavier goalkeeper.
• In the 34th minute (34:10),
Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) made a diving save to deflect the ball off the tip of his glove and prevent Xavier's Brandon Osterholt from netting his shot to the inside of the far post.
• With 20 minutes remaining (71:28),
Pearse O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn.) delivered a corner to
Bruno Rosa (Cascais, Portugal), who flicked the ball to Dewhurst for the goal. It marked Dewhurst's first goal of the season.
• The Friars were able to fend off the Musketeers for the remainder of the half to finish on top, 1-0.
• Burns recorded his sixth shutout of the season with five saves in the game.
• Providence improved to 7-4-2 all-time against Xavier.
