HOPKINTON, N.H.– The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional race on Friday, November 15 at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H. The 11th-ranked Friar women's team placed first of 39 teams and was led by senior Kimberly May (Auckland, New Zealand), who finished third (19:34.32) of 268 runners. By finishing first, the women's team will now advance to the NCAA Championship as the top two teams in each region earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Championship, which will be run on November 23 in Madison, Wis. On the men's side, the Friars placed sixth of 38 teams. Senior
Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) paced the Friars, finishing 16th (30:18.71) of 256 runners.
The Friar women's squad finished first with 51 points ahead of second-place Syracuse (105 points). After May, leading the way for the women was graduate student
Alex Millard (Kent, England), graduate student
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) and graduate student
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland). Millard, May, Flockhart and Mooney all finished in the top-10. May, Millard and Flockhart ran the entire race together, which resulted in them finishing three, four and five. Millard was fourth (19:34.37), Flockhart was fifth (19:36.23) and Mooney was 10th (20:03.07). Senior Niamh O'Mahony (Kerry, Ireland) was the final Friar to score as she placed 29th (20:37.90).
The Friar men's team scored 208 points and finished sixth. Pacing the Friars after Morgan was graduate student

Liam Back (New Plymouth, England) and graduate student
Shane Coffey (Naas, Ireland) -- Thygesen was 21
st (30:27.60), Dixon was 37
th (30:57.40), Back was 61st (31:19.07) and Coffey was 73rd (31:28.54).
