BOYDS, Md.- The No.25 Providence College men's soccer team claimed a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over No. 3-seed St. John's (9-6-5, 5-1-2 BIG EAST) in a BIG EAST Semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. Israel Neto (Salvador, Brazil) secured the game-winner in the first minute of overtime to send Providence to its seventh appearance in the BIG EAST Championship match. The Friars have posted a 1-5 mark all-time in BIG EAST Championship games, capturing the league title in 2014.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
• The Red Storm scored an early goal in the first minute of play (1:30).
• In the 20th minute (20:28), O'Brien leveled the score (1-1) with a shot from the top of the box that sailed past the goalkeeper and found the bottom right corner of the net.
• The score stayed even at 1-1 entering half.
• The two teams fought through the second half, with the Friars recording four shots. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net for the rest of regulation.
• In the first minute of overtime play (91:23),
Brandon Marshall (Wake Forest, N.C.) sent a high-cross into the box that deflected off the head of
Sam Montalto (Stonington, Conn.) and landed at the feet of Neto who scored with a volley kick.

Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) registered a season-high seven saves.
• Providence is now 12-20-6 all-time against St. John's.
• The Friars secured their third postseason win over the Red Storm. PC is now 2-2 all-time in BIG EAST Semifinal play against the Johnnies and 3-3 in BIG EAST Championship action.
• The Friars will be making their seventh BIG EAST Championship game appearance in program history. The Friars last appearance came during the 2021 season.
• The Friars are now 3-1 all-time as the No. 2-seed in BIG EAST Championship play.
• The Friars now hold a 7-10 all-time series record in BIG EAST Semifinals action.

No. 2 Providence will advance to the BIG EAST Championship match, to face the winner of the No. 1-Seed Akron versus No. 4-seed Georgetown.
The Championship game will be played at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. on Sunday, Nov. 17. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 12:00 p.m. on FS2.
