BELFAST, Northern Ireland– The Providence College women's hockey team will open the 2024 year against Princeton University on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 p.m. local and Saturday, Jan. 6 at 9:00 a.m. ET, 2:00 p.m. local at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland as part of the Friendship Series.
Scouting The Friars
The Friars are currently 6-12-1 and 5-8-1 in Hockey East play. In their last matchups, the Friars shutout New Hampshire (6-0) on Friday, Dec. 8 and lost to Boston University (5-1) on Saturday, Dec. 9.
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) recorded 27 saves on Dec. 8 and 26 saves on Dec. 9.
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) led Providence in points with three goals and two assists.
Rachel Weiss (Calgary, Alberta) followed with one goal and three assists.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish third in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Friars, who received 74 points, were picked to finish behind Northeastern (88) and Vermont (75). The Huskies, who won the 2023 Hockey East Tournament, received eight first place votes.
Rounding out the poll was UConn (65), Boston University (59), Boston College (58), Maine (38), New Hampshire (35), Merrimack (28) and Holy Cross (20).
Fresh Friar Faces
Providence welcomes nine new players (two transfers and six freshmen) to the roster for the 2023-24 season.

Hockey East Award Winners
Audrey Knapp was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 23 for scoring three goals in two games.
Knapp earned Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on Nov. 27 for scoring the lone goal and game-winner against Brown University.
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) earned Hockey East Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 11 for recording four points on Dec. 8 against New Hampshire and scoring the Friars' lone goal against Boston University on Dec. 9.
Scouting the Tigers
The Tigers enter the weekend matchup at 9-5-1 (4-5-2 ECAC). Princeton's last matchup was against Quinnipiac on Saturday, Dec. 9. The Tigers lost to the Bobcats, 6-5, in overtime.
Who to Watch
Issy Wunder leads the Tigers with 21 points consisting of six goals and 15 assists. Sarah Fillier follows with 14 goals and five assists for 19 points.
Goaltender Uma Corniea has started between the pipes in nine games. Corniea has recorded 216 saves this season for a .904 save percentage and a 2.56 GAA.
All-Time Series with the Tigers
Providence currently leads in the all-time series record against Princeton, 47-10-7. The Friars last faced Princeton in December 2021. Providence won the first game, 1-0, then tied the Tigers 1-1.
