Men’s Soccer to Play Brown in Crosstown Match-Up

Men’s soccer will face Brown University on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 on Stevenson-Pincince Field.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- On Tuesday, Sept. 19, the Providence College men's soccer team will travel across town to face inner-city rivals, Brown. This matchup marks the 39th game between the two teams and the first game between coaches Craig Stewart and Chase Wileman.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS…
• On Sept. 15, the Friars tied 3-3, against No.3 Akron. Brendan McSorley, Gevork Diarbian, and Diego Batista scored the goals for Providence.
• PC is ranked third in the BIG EAST conference in points (nine).
• The Friars are tied for second in conference goals for the BIG EAST conference (three) with an average of three goals per game.
• McSorley and Pearse O'Brien lead the team in points (six). McSorley has three goals on the season, O'Brien one goals and four assists.
•Providence men's soccer was picked to finish second in the East Division in the BIG EAST Preseason Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll, earning one first-place vote and a total of 56 points.
• Graduate midfielder Luis Garcia (Gran Canaria, Spain) and senior forward Gevork Diarbian (Cranston, R.I.) were each named to the Preseason ALL-BIG EAST Team for the second season in a row. Garcia played in 13 games for the Friars with 11 appearances in the starting line-up during the 2022 season, and finished with one goal and four assists. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's Players to Watch List for Midfielders as well as the 2022 Hermann Trophy Watch List.
•Diarbian started in all 17 games for the Friars during the 2022 season, and led the team with four goals and five assists. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's Players to Watch List for Forwards in 2022 and concluded the season as a member of the ALL-BIG EAST Second Team and selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Third Team.

• Kojo Dazdie is tied for fifth in the Ivy League in goals (two), and goals per game (two). He currently leads the team in points (four).
