VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed in the first day of the BIG EAST Championship in Villanova, Pa., at the Jumbo Elliott Track at Villanova University on Thursday, May 11.
On day one of competition,
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) finished runner up in the 10,000 meters with a personal record of 29:12.50.
David McGlynn (Waterford, Ireland) placed third with a time of 29:34.00. Laadjel and McGlynn's performances earned them All-BIG EAST accolades.
Shane Coffey (Naas, Ireland) followed in seventh place (30:03.32) and
Grady Satterfield (Bowdoinham, Maine) finished in a time of 31:36.72.
On the women's side,
Orla O'Connor (Waterford, Ireland) and Niamh O'Mahony (Kerry, Ireland) ran the 10,000 meters. O'Connor placed fourth in a time of 35:14.49 followed by O'Mahony in a time of 37:10.68.
The Friars return tomorrow, May 12 for the second day of BIG EAST competition.
