Men’s And Women’s Track Teams Compete At Brown Invitational

The Friars compete next on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 at the BIG EAST Championships in Chicago, Ill.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams competed in Providence, R.I. at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 18.
 
In the 1000-meters, Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) finished first with a time of 2:50.63 and Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) placed second in 2:52.34. Claire Kelly (Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y.) placed fourth with a personal record in the event of 3:00.16. Olivia Belt (Cumberland, R.I.) ran a 5:16.01 in the mile for a first-place finish. Following Belt was Emily DiSarno (Westfield, N.J.) in third with a time of 5:21.46.
 
The Friars sealed the top-three places in the 300-meters. Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) finished first with a personal record of 40.56. Jillian Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) followed Hughes with a personal record of 40.99 and Niamh Gowing (Dublin, Ireland) finished third in 41.33. Nicole Borowiec (Morristown, N.J.) finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.95, followed by Charlotte Cousins (Madbury, N.H.) in third with 9.07.
 
On the men's side, Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) placed first in the 1000-meters with a personal best of 2:28.41 and Tim Dolan (Cinnaminson, N.J.) finished second with a personal record of 2:29.96.
 
Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.) finished first in the 500-meters with a time of 1:07.02, marking a personal record. Will Rainey (San Jose, Calif.) finished third in the 300-meters with a personal best of 36.37. Nico Fanuele (Wilmington, Mass.) also set a personal record in the 300-meters of 38.04. In the triple jump, Nik Ventura (Jamison, Penn.) marked a personal best of 12.21 meters.
 
The Friars compete next on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 at the BIG EAST Championships in Chicago, Ill.
