WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. – The Providence College women's basketball team was defeated by No. 10/11 Baylor on Dec. 20 in the West Palm Beach Classic. Olivia Olsen paced the Friars with 12 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
1ST QUARTER:
• Providence trailed 18-5 after the opening 10 minutes of play.
• The Friars shot 1-10 from the field in the first quarter, while Baylor converted 47-percent of its shots (8-17).
2ND QUARTER:
• Providence's shooting woes continued into the second quarter, hitting 2-10 field goals in the frame (.200).
• Baylor extended its lead to 36-12 at halftime.
• Olivia Olsen led the Friars with five points, six boards and two blocked shots at the break.
3RD QUARTER:
• Providence started the third quarter on an 8-2 run to make it a 38-20 game.
• The Friars trailed 41-23 at the media timeout (4:18).
• Providence outscored Baylor 14-11 in the third quarter.
• Baylor carried a 47-26 edge into the final quarter.
4TH QUARTER:
• Providence trailed 51-32 at the final media timeout of the game (4:52).
• Baylor held a 14-10 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to take a 61-36 victory.
NOTES:
• Olsen recorded her second-straight double-double and fourth of the season overall with 12 points and 10 boards.
• Emily Archibald added seven rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot.
• Bella McLaughlin led the Friars in assists (three), marking a career high.
• Providence finished the game 24.4-percent from the field (11-45), while Baylor shot 39-percent (23-59).
• Bella Fontleroy packed four Bears in double figures with 14 points.
• The battle of the boards was even at 39-39.
