PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College goaltender Philip Svedebäck (Växjö, Sweden) has been named Stop It Hockey East Goaltender of the Week on Monday, November 5. This marks the third time that Svedebäck has earned the weekly recognition in his career.
The sophomore netminder stopped 48-of-49 shots he faced over two games against #15/16 New Hampshire last weekend for a 0.48 goals-against average and .980 save percentage. Svedebäck turned away 28 shots, including all four shootout attempts on Friday, before stopping all 20 shots he faced in a 2-0 Friars win on Saturday night while earning his second-career shutout.
The #5/6 Friars will continue Hockey East play in a home-and-home series against Northeastern beginning Friday night at Schneider Arena.
