Graham Gamache scored his first-career goal for the Friars on Saturday.

AMHERST, Mass. – Freshman Graham Gamache scored his first-career goal but No. 15 UMass rallied for a 2-1 overtime victory over the No. 5 Providence College men's hockey team on Saturday (Nov. 18) at the Mullins Center.

NOTES

- The Friars held a 14-7 advantage in shots through 20 minutes of play but the teams battled to a scoreless period.

- Providence opened the scoring at 8:28 of the second period as Graham Gamache registered his first-career goal, beating Hrabal through the five-hole. Cal Kiefiuk and Guillaume Richard earned the assists on the play.

- With UMass' Aydar Suniev given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing late in the second, the Friars looked to extend the lead but were unable to do so.

- After hitting two posts and getting multiple quality chances, Providence could not extend its lead in the third period.

- UMass knotted the game at 1-1 with 2:50 remaining in regulation as Jack Musa re-directed a Lucas Vanroboys shot in the high slot.

- In overtime, Ryan Ufko worked his way to the net and beat Svedebäck to the far post for the game-winning goal.

- The Minutemen claimed 5-of-6 points on the weekend.
