PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence men's soccer will resume BIG EAST play on Saturday, Oct. 7 versus St. John's at Belson Stadium in Queens, N.Y. Kick-off is slated for 7:00p.m. Both teams enter the match having won two consecutive games.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS…
•
Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J) leads the team in points (12) and goals (six). He is fourth in the BIG EAST in goals per game (.6), game-winning goals (two) and goals.
•Freshman midfielder
Pearse O'Brien (West Hartford, Conn.) is tied for third in the BIG EAST in assists (five) and he is tied for fourth in assists per game (.5).
•Senior goalkeeper
Lukas Burns (Cinnaminson, N.J.) has recorded two-consecutive shutouts, with a 4-0 win versus DePaul on Sept. 29, and the 1-0 win versus Siena College on Oct. 3. He has three shut-out victories on the season.
•Burns has played all 900 minutes in the net for the Friars. He has made 26 saves and he has posted a .591 save percentage.
•The Friars have added 16 newcomers to the 2023 roster and eight of them have seen the starting lineup.
•Twelve players have marked at least one point for the Friars, including two freshman and four transfers.
•Nine Friars have scored at least one goal this season, including five multi-goal scorers: McSorley (six), O'Brien (three),
Nathan Messer (London, England) (three),
Cole Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass.) (two), and
Rodrigo Vaza (Torres Vedras) (two).
• Providence men's soccer was voted to finish second in the East Division of the BIG EAST Preseason Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll, earning one first-place vote and a total of 56 points overall.
SCOUTING THE RED STORM…
• The Johnnies are currently on a three-game home undefeated streak, defeating Temple, 7-1, on Sept.11, tying No. 4 Akron, 1-1, on Sept. 23, and defeating Columbia, 2-1, on Oct. 3.
• St. John's is first in the BIG EAST in assists (30) and assists per game (2.73).
•The Red Storm are second in points (72) in the BIG EAST.
•Miguel Diaz leads the conference in assists (seven).
•Fleuriau Chateau is first in the BIG EAST in goals (nine). He is tied for second in points (19) and game-winning goals (three).
