Florencia Talarico Named BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week

The Friars' rookie midfielder earned the honor for a second-straight week.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College midfielder Florencia Talarico (Buenos Aires, Argentina) has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for field hockey for a second-consecutive week. The league announced its weekly awards on Oct. 17. Talarico also claimed the honor on Oct. 10.
Last week, Talarico scored the game-winning goal in double-overtime to help Providence defeat Connecticut, 2-1, in a BIG EAST match on Oct. 13. It marked Talarico's first career goal.
Providence earned its first victory over UConn since 2006. Additionally, it was the first win over the Huskies in Storrs, Conn. since 1992.
Talarico leads the team this season in assists (five) and is tied for sixth in points (seven).
The Friars will return to action on Friday, Oct. 20 against Georgetown. The game will be played at Lennon Family in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
