PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 13. The race will be held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. The women's 6k race will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the men's 8k race at 12:40 p.m.
The Friar women enter the race ranked 14th nationally and first in the Northeast Region. The men's team comes in ranked seventh in the Northeast Region. Both the men's and women's team will be competing in a field with 22 out of the top-30 nationally ranked programs.
Leading the pack for the women will be
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada),
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) and
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand). Tuck finished the Friar Invitational in third place with a time of 14:14.0 and placed 38
th (17:00.8) at the University of Virginia Invitational. Flockhart finished the Virginia Invitational in 36
th place with a time of 17:00.2. May has had an impressive season so far with a first-place finish at the Friar Invitational (13:56.2) and a 10
th place finish at the Virginia Invitational in a time of 16:34.8.
Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand),
Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) and
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) will lead the Friar men at the line. Back placed second (18:26.4) at the Friar Invitational before finishing in 58
th (24:03.3) at the University of Virginia Invitational. Morgan placed 66
th at the Virginia Invitational in a time of 24:09.8. Laadjel won the Friar Invitational in a time of 18:03.6 and finished 60
th (24:04.3) at the Virginia Invitational.
