PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today (February 7) that junior Jared Bynum (Largo, Md.) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week. Bynum helped the No. 11/11 Friars (20-2, 10-1) post a 2-0 mark last week with victories at St. John's and Georgetown.
Bynum averaged 25.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals while shooting 11-13 (.846) from three, 8-8 from the free-throw line and 16-23 (.696) overall from the field in the two wins. Bynum recorded a career-high 32 points, including 27 in the second half, in the Friars' 71-52 win at Georgetown on February 6. He was 7-8 from three and 11-15 from the field overall. He also had five steals. In the team's 86-82 win at St. John's on February 1, Bynum scored 19 points and was 4-5 from three with four assists.
