Women’s Hockey Shuts Out Merrimack, 3-0

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- The Providence College women's hockey team shutout the Merrimack Warriors, 3-0, on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at Lawler Rink in North Andover, Mass. Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) recorded 32 saves in net to keep the Warriors off the board.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-Ashley Clark (North Weymouth, Mass.) put the Friars on the board, 1-0, 5:33 into the first period. Clark was assisted by KC Brooks (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Delaney Couture (Shrewsbury, Mass.) on the play.
-Ciara Barone (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) struck next for Providence, 2-0, with help from Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) and Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) on her fourth strike of the season.
-In the second period, Couture scored her second point of the night on a goal at the 6:26 mark. Clark and Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) earned the assists.
-Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) recorded 32 saves to record her third shutout of the season and eighth of her career.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Friars will faceoff against Boston University this weekend in a home-and-home series. The Friars will host the Warriors on Friday, Feb. 18 at 6:00 p.m. as they celebrate their graduating seniors. Providence will travel to Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Feb. 19 for a 5:00 p.m. puck drop in their final game of the 2021-22 regular season.
