Short-Handed Friars Fall To Boston College, 73-64

Janai Crooms and Olivia Olsen combined to score 44 points.
CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – The short-handed Providence College women's basketball team fell to Boston College, 73-64, on Nov. 20 at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Janai Crooms scored a season-high 25 points and Olivia Olsen dropped a career-high 19 points for the Friars.

1ST QUARTER:
• Boston College got out to an 8-0 lead through the first two minutes of action.
• Crooms scored eight-straight points for the Friars to tie the game, 10-10, with 3:30 on the clock.
• Crooms gave the Friars a 14-12 advantage with under a minute to play, marking her 10th point of the day.
• The two teams went into the intermission tied, 14-14.
2ND QUARTER:
• A 7-0 run by the Eagles forced a Providence timeout with 7:40 on the clock (27-19).
• BC pushed its lead to 33-19 on back-to-back three-point plays.
• Audrey Koch got the Friars back on the board after more than four minutes without a point at the 4:39 mark (33-21).
• Meghan Huerter followed with a triple from the left wing to get Providence inside single digits, but the Eagles answered with a baseline three on the other end (36-24).
• Both teams went cold for more than three minutes, before Nariah Scott converted a pair of free throws for Providence with 36-seconds left.
• Boston College held a 36-26 advantage at the half.
• Crooms led all scorers with 10 points, while Taina Mair scored eight to lead BC.
3RD QUARTER:
• Brynn Farrell hit a triple and Crooms followed with a traditional three-point play to get Providence within six at the 7:24 mark (38-32).
• A 7-2 spurt put Boston College ahead 47-36 at the media (4:30).
• Providence got back within seven (49-42) with three to play, but the Eagles pushed their lead to 11 heading into the fourth quarter (55-44).
4TH QUARTER:
• Crooms scored six-straight during a span of 2:28 to get the Friars within 61-54 midway through the fourth (4:52).
• The Eagles ended a three-minute scoreless drought with a three-pointer by Mair at 4:09 to give BC a 10-point edge (64-54).
• Providence got as close as seven on two occasions with under two and a half to play in regulation, but the Eagles held on for the 73-64 victory.
NOTES:
• Crooms and Olivia Olsen combined to score 44 of the Friars' 64 points.
• Crooms netted a season-high 25 points on 10-16 shooting and added six rebounds, four assists and one steal.
• Crooms has scored 20+ points in three of the Friars' five games this season.
• Olsen hit 8-13 attempts from the field and was 3-3 from the foul line. She grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
• Huerter matched her career high with nine points – all of which came from beyond the arc.
• Providence was without the services of Kylee Sheppard for the fourth-consecutive game, and starter Grace Efosa also was ruled out for the game with an undisclosed injury.
• The Eagles won the glass with a 41-31 advantage in rebounding.
• Boston College got 27 points from its reserves (27-11).
