PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College No. 13 women's hockey team will host the University of Maine for a home series on Friday, Nov. 18 at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 10-4-1 overall and 7-3-1 in Hockey East play. The Friars are coming off a mid-week shutout over No. 8 Northeastern University. Providence defeated the Huskies, 3-0, on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the night with 23 saves and currently holds a .944 save percentage with a 1.39 GAA this season.
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the night.
Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) and
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) led in points for the Friars with two. DeBlois scored the Friars' second goal and earned an assist on Becker's goal. Bochna assisted DeBlois' and Becker's goal for two points.
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) scored the final goal for the Friars.

As of Nov. 14th, the Friars are ranked No. 13 in the most recent USCHO NCAA Women's Hockey rankings. Providence received 61 votes.
Hockey East Award Winners
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month as announced on Nov. 2 Kirchmair was recognized for leading the Friars in goals with seven and leading all of Hockey East in goals among freshman.
Kirchmair was named Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on Oct. 24. Kirchmair was recognized for earning two goals over the weekend. She has recorded seven goals and two assists across eight season games. She leads the Friars in goals and is second in points with nine.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 17. Abstreiter was recognized for having another shutout weekend against Holy Cross. She posted a combined 25 saves on the weekend and is the first goalie in program history to tally four-consecutive shutouts.
Abstreiter was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week as announced on Oct. 10. Abstreiter was recognized for her efforts between the pipes after a shutout weekend over Union College and RPI, posting a combined 35 saves.
Reichen Kirchmair (Oakville, Ontario) was named Hockey East Pro-Ambitions Rookie of the Week as announced on
Sept. 26. Kirchmair was recognized for scoring the game-winner with her first career goal against St. Lawrence.
Hockey East Preseason Poll
The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the Hockey East Preseason Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Providence received 61 points and was picked to finish behind Northeastern (90), Vermont (79) and Boston College (76). The Huskies, who won the 2022 Hockey East Tournament, received nine first place votes.
Fresh Friar Faces
Providence welcomes seven new players (three transfers and four freshmen) to the roster for the 2022-23 season.
Noemi Neubauerova (Prague, Czech Republic) is a graduate student from Colgate University.
Ida Press (Uppsala, Sweden) is a graduate student from University of Maine.
Rachel Weiss (Calgary, Alberta) is a junior from Penn State. The four freshmen are Mégane Quirion (Saint-Eustache, Quebec),

Scouting the Black Bears
Maine currently holds a 8-7-0 overall record with a 6-4-0 conference record. The Black Bears are coming off a weekend sweep over Holy Cross with a 4-0 win on Friday, Nov. 11 and a 4-1 win on Saturday, Nov. 12. As a team, the Huskies average 34.7 shots per game and hold a .19 conversion rate on power plays with a 49.2 faceoff success percentage.
Who to Watch
Graduate student Grace Heiting leads the Huskies in points with 13 and in goals with seven. Freshman Lilli Welcke has the team high of eight assists.
Freshman goaltender Brooklyn Oakes has played in eight games for the Black Bears this season. Oakes has recorded 197 saves this season for a .916 save percentage and a 2.41 GAA. Junior goaltender Jorden Mattison has played in seven game this season and has recorded 175 saves. Mattison has a .926 save percentage and a 2.20 GAA.
All Time Series with the Black Bears
Providence leads for the all-time series record against Maine, 48-14-13. The last time the Friars played Maine was in January 2022 when the Black Bears swept the Friars. The Friars lost 2-1 on Friday, Jan. 28 and 4-1 on Sunday, Jan. 30.
