Women’s Soccer Defeats DePaul, 2-1, In BIG EAST Action

Gallagher and Kenney scored for the Friars.



PROVIDENCE, R.I.  – 
The Providence College women's soccer team defeated DePaul, 2-1, on Thursday, Oct. 6 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. Junior Kyla Gallagher (Farmington, Conn.) and sophomore Gillian Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) each scored for the Friars. With the win, the Friars improved to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-In the 31st minute, Gallagher gave the Friars the advantage off a cross pass from Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.). Gillian Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) passed down field to Hughes to set up the play.
-The Friars outshot the Blue Demons 6-2 in the first half. Four of the Friars six shots were on goal.
-DePaul had the only two corner kicks of the half.
-Kenney gave Providence a two-goal lead in the 57th minute. Gallagher assisted on the goal.
-With 1:30 to play, the Blue Demons' Katie Grodden scored off a free kick from Ebba Costow.
-Providence dominated offensively with seven shots on goal.
-Goalkeeper Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) played 86 minutes for the Friars and did not face a shot on goal.
