WORCESTER, MASS. – The Providence College women's swimming and diving team defeated Assumption College, 127-78, during dual meet action on Jan. 15 in Worcester, Mass. The Friars picked up victories all nine individual events during the competition.

The Friars swept the individual freestyle events as
Samantha Martin claimed first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:13.36.
Grace Erickson followed with first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.25) and the 500-yard free (5:27.56).
Jennifer Bankes also captured two individual wins in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.32 and the 100-yard free (54.98).

Madeline O'Connor (2:17.19),
Katherine Winklosky (2:19.57) and
Angela Brillantes (2:20.88) swept the top-three spots in the 200-yard IM to earn 16 of the available 20 points.

O'Connor got her second win of the day in the 200-yard breaststroke, with a time of 2:35.50.

Sally Alrutz added another first-place finish for Providence in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:09.42.
Rachel DiTolla (2:15.72) and O'Connor (2:17.94) claimed first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly.

The Friars will return to action for their final regular-season home meet of the year on Jan. 22 against Holy Cross. Diving events will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by swim events at 1:00 p.m.
