Kick-Off is set for Friday, September 3 at 7:00 PM in Durham, N.H.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team will travel to Durham, N.H. to take on the No. 14 University of New Hampshire Wildcats on Friday, Sep. 3 at 7 p.m. The Friars are coming off a 6-2 victory against Saint Peter's on Aug. 29 and look to extend their win streak to three.

Friars down Saint Peter's… The Friars defeated the Saint Peter's University Peacocks, 6-2 in their second game of the season on Sunday, August 29th at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Senior transfer Miguel Candela (Caceres, Spain) scored the first goal for the Friars to tie the game at 1-1 with just over 10 minutes in the first half. A few minutes later, freshman Thomas Tulgar (Bergenfield, N.J.) scored his first collegiate goal to give the Friars the lead. Sophomore Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) added another goal late in the first half to extend the Friars' lead. From here, the Friars controlled the game, collecting 73% of possession and outshooting the Peacocks 22-5. Graduate student Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.) recorded a goal and an assist in the match. Sophomore Samuel Biven (Atlanta, Georgia) and senior Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) also added goals for the Friars in their dominant showing.

Scouting the Wildcats… The Wildcats are currently ranked No. 14 in the United Coaches Soccer Poll and have performed to expectations, starting the season with a 2-0-0 record, the Wildcats have yet to allow a goal this season. Senior forward Tola Showunmi (Enfield, England) has scored two-straight game-winners for the Wildcats.
Scouting the Friars… The Friars have scored a total of nine goals through their first two games of the season, including three against No. 23 Fordham in a 3-0 shutout to open the season. Graduate Student Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.), and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week (Aug. 30), leads all Friars in points this season, tallying two goals and an assist in his first two games. The Friars have had seven different goal scorers this season.
Friars' Newcomers
The Friars' roster will welcome nine incoming freshman and two transfers for the 2021 fall season. Cole Dewhurst (Lancaster, Mass.), Thomas Tulgar (Bergenfield, N.J.), Colton Madeira (Taunton, Mass.), Austin Rome (Bowie, Md.), Alec Lowe (Rutheford, N.J.), Nathan Lagoa (Rehoboth, Mass.), Noah Smith (Matthews, N.C.), Diego Garcia (Wilmington, Mass), and Colby Campos (Swansea, Mass.) make up the incoming freshmen. The Friars' also welcome Simon Triantafillou (Ontario, Canada), a transfer from Syracuse University, and Miguel Candela (Caceres, Spain), a transfer from Franklin Pierce University.
