Former Friar Catarina Braz-Rocha ’17 Added To Cross-Country/Track & Field Staff

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College Director of Cross-Country/Track & Field Ray Treacy announced today (June 3) the addition of Catarina Braz-Rocha to the Cross-Country/Track & Field coaching staff. Rocha was named the Head Coach of Women's Track and Assistant Coach of the Cross-Country program.
Rocha, a 2017 graduate, ran under Treacy during her tenure as a Friar. As a freshman, she was a scoring member of the cross-country team that won the BIG EAST and NCAA titles in 2013. Over the next four years, Catarina was a two time Cross-Country All-American and four time BIG EAST Champion. She was the Providence College Athlete of the Year in 2018 and was the BIG EAST Conference's nominee for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. After graduation she worked as a volunteer coach with the program while she completed her master's program in Counseling.
Director of the program Ray Treacy says, "We are delighted to add Catarina to our permanent staff. She brings a wealth of experience of competing at the highest level of BIG EAST and NCAA competition. That knowledge will be a huge benefit to our young and talented squad."
