PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to Connecticut, 3-0, on March 7 at Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. It marked the second game of the season between the two teams in a span of eight days.
GAME FLOW:
• Connecticut scored back-to-back goals within 10 seconds of one another to take a 2-0 lead 7:30 into the game.
• Claire Jandewerth tallied the first goal on a direct shot off a penalty corner and was assisted by Claire Van den Noort and Sophie Hamilton.
• Hamilton capitalized off a Friar turnover just seconds later and carried the ball into the Huskies' offensive circle for a 2-0 lead.
• UConn held a 2-0 lead at halftime and recorded a 3-1 edge in penalty corners in the half and outshot the Friars, 5-1.
• The Friars got a solid opportunity in the second quarter to find the back of the cage during a penalty corner, but
Maddie Babineau (Grimsby, Ontario) had her attempt saved by Cheyenne Sprecher.
• The Huskies tacked on one more goal at 38:17 in the third quarter as Jessica Dembrowski fed Hamilton in the middle of the circle.
• For the game, Connecticut held an 11-1 advantage in shots and a 7-1 edge in corners.

Camryn Kelbaugh (Hampstead, Md.) made four saves in the cage for Providence, while Sprecher made one save for the Huskies.
WHAT'S NEXT:
• Providence will face ODU in back-to-back games on March 13-14. The game will be hosted by Villanova University at the Proving Grounds.
