Brendan McSorley scores both goals for the Friars.


PROVIDENCE, R.I. – 
The Providence College men's soccer team topped the Villanova Wildcats, 2-0, on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars moved to 4-2-1 overall on the season and 3-2-1 in BIG EAST play. 
Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) tallied four points on night on two goals, one being his first career goal. Keeper Rimi Olatuji (Brampton, Ontario) recorded another clean sheet for his fifth shutout of the season.

GAME FLOW & NOTES 
-After 25 seconds of play, Brendan McSorley (Randolph, N.J.) scored his first career goal to give the Friars an early 1-0 lead. Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) passed the ball to Christopher Roman (Glastonbury, Conn.) in the far corner who crossed the ball to McSorley in the box. McSorley scored in the upper left of the net with his right foot. 
-Gage Raftery (Seattle, Wash.) got a good look in the in the 23rd minute. Raftery took an open look at the net about 12 yards out which Villanova keeper was able to tip out over the goal. 
-Providence held the advantage in shots, 4-2, at the half. Three of those were on net. 
-McSorley found the back of the net for the second time this evening in the 48th minute of play. Adam Riis (Hellerup, Denmark) crossed the ball to the freshman where he connected with his head to score off the top post. This marked Riis' first career assist. 
-The Wildcats had some good looks in the second half making eight shots with three of those on goal. Keeper Rimi Olatunji (Brampton, Ontario) was able to make the saves keeping Villanova scoreless. 
-The Friars edged the Wildcats, 6-4, in shots on goal. Villanova had the advantage in corner kicks, 4-2. 
-This win marked the Friars fifth shutout of the season, all credited to Olatunji. 


HOW THEY SCORED
1-0 – 0:25/1st – Brendan McSorley (Roman, Vang) – Vang found Roman in the far left of the pitch where he crossed it to McSorley who found the back of the net. 
2-0 – 47:11/2nd – Brendan McSorley (Riis) – Riis crossed the ball to McSorley where he scored off the top goal post with his head.
