Freshman McGovern Brown sets a new program record in the 100-meter breaststroke at his first meet.

Providence, R.I. –The Providence College men's swimming and diving team was defeated by Bryant University, 169-119, in the team's season-opening meet on Saturday, Feb. 20. Junior Justin Viotto earned three of the team's four first place finishes. Freshman McGovern Brown outpaced the program record in the 100-meter backstroke. The record was previously held by John Fatigati, when he swam a 59.37 in 2014. The 200 meter medley relay team of Will Layden, Kevin Hood, Matthew Michaels, and Brian Cantin finished in 1:46.13, knocking nearly a second off of the previous school best. The standard was previously 1:47.03, set be Aidan Hughes, Kevin Hood, Andrew Ferrell, and PK Brannigan in 2020.
