Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 6-5-4 overall. Providence picked up two wins last week against Brown (Nov. 27) and Merrimack (Nov. 30). The Friars defeated the Brown Bears 4-2 in the 26
th annual Mayor's Cup before blanking the Merrimack Warriors, 3-0, in Schneider Arena in a mid-week Hockey East matchup.
In Tuesday's game against Merrimack, three different Friars scored and goaltender
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) recorded her first career shutout.
Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) kicked off the scoring for the Friars with a power-play goal at 3:46 of the second period. Burton was assisted by
Lauren DeBlois (Lewiston, Maine) and
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) on her second goal of the season. The goal served as the game-winner.
Ciara Barone (North Tonawanda , N.Y.) netted the second goal of the period for the Friars, 2-0, at 10:56. Barone drove it home off from point-blank off a pass from
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario).
Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.) earned the secondary assist on the play. It served as the second consecutive game in which Barone and Burton have both netted goals.
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) added an empty-netter for the Friars, 3-0, in the final 22 seconds of play. Lunny was assisted by
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) On her first career shutout,
Mireille Kingsley finished the night with 18 saves. The Friars outshot the Warriors, 32-18.
Bochna leads the Friars in points (13) as well as goals (six) and assists (seven). She is followed by Lunny and Becker who each have six assists and have tallied 10 and eight points, respectively, over the season.
Kingsley and Abstreiter have split action in the net this season. Kingsley holds a 1.48 goals against average and .947 save percentage over 160 saves. She holds a team-high four wins. Abstreiter has a 1.86 goals against average and .937 save percentage through 253 saves.
Scouting the Tigers
Princeton enters the weekend at 5-4-1 after two home losses (0-2, 1-3) against No. 4 Northeastern.
Who to Watch
Junior Maggie Connors leads Princeton offensively with nine points (eight goals, one assist), and scored Princeton's lone goal on the weekend against Northeastern. Annie Kuehl and Sarah Paul each have five points for the Tigers with two goals and three assists each.
Rachel McQuigge has spent the majority of time in net for the Tigers. The senior holds a 1.57 goals against average and .953 save percentage over 282 saves. She earned ECAC Goalie of the Month honors for November after setting a career-high 47 saves against No. 5 Colgate.
