Providence is set to host the Merrimack College Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30 for a mid-week Hockey East matchup at Schneider Arena.
Road Stretch
The Friars have played five of their last six games on the road, posting a 2-2-2 record in those contests.
On Saturday, Nov. 27 the Friars defeated Brown University, 4-2, in the 26
th Annual Mayor's Cup. Improving to a 13-10-3 all-time record in the Mayor Cup series. Four different Friars found the back of the net, including freshman
Ashlyn Garnett (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) who netted her first career goal as a Friar. Other goal scorers for Providence included
Ciara Barone (North Tonawanda, N.Y.),
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) and
Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.).
Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario) recorded two assists for a team-high in points on the game.
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) stopped 17 of 19 shots faced in net for a .895 save percentage.
Scouting the Friars
The Friars are currently 5-5-4 overall and 3-4-2 in Hockey East play. As a team, Providence ranks seventh in the nation in penalty kill percentage, killing off .911 percent of penalties.
Lindsay Bochna leads the charge offensively for the Friars. She has recorded six goals and six assists for a total of 12 points. Bochna is followed by
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) and
Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, N.Y.) who have put up nine and eight points over the season, respectively. Bochna, Lunny, and Becker have all recorded six assists apiece.
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) and
Claire Tyo (Massena, N.Y.) have served as defensive threats for the Friars. Lunny has recorded a team-high 24 blocked shots while Tyo has 21. Tyo has proved to be a versatile player, as she has tallied five assists.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) and
Mireille Kingsley have split time in net for the Friars this season. Abstreiter has tallied 253 saves for a .937 save percentage and 1.86 goals against average. Sophomore
Mireille Kingsley has recorded 142 saves for a .940 save percentage and 1.76 goals against average.
Scouting the Warriors
Merrimack is currently 5-11-1 overall and 4-7-1 in Hockey East. The Warriors similarly matched-up against Brown on Wednesday, Nov. 24, taking home a 1-0 win over the Brown Bears. As a team, the Warriors average 2.1 goals per game and give up 3.2 goals per game.
Who to Watch
Junior Teghan Inglis leads the Warriors offensively with 11 points through eight goals and three assists. Katie Kaufman and Courtney Maud follow Inglis, having posted 10 points each.
Emma Gorski has played 17 games in net for Merrimack this season. She holds a 2.94 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. She's earned three shutouts and is 5-10-1 overall.
