Women’s Hockey Skates To 3-3 Tie With UConn; Wins Shootout, 1-0

STORRS, Conn. – The Providence College women's hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie against UConn in a single Hockey East matchup in Storrs, Conn. on Friday night (Nov. 19). The Friars claimed the extra point in the Hockey East standings by virtue of 1-0 win in the shootout.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
UConn's Natalie Snodgrass started off the scoring just 39 seconds into play, grabbing a 1-0 lead. The Huskies outshot the Friars, 15-6, in the opening period and carried their one point lead into the first intermission.
 
Providence found the equalizer 58 seconds into period two with a goal from Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) on the breakaway. Hjalmarsson was assisted by Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y) and Lily Hendrikson (Edina, Minn.) on the play.
 
Bochna, the Friar's leading goal scorer, gave Providence their first lead of the night, 2-1, off a rebound from Bailey Burton (Bloomington, Minn.) at the 14:36 mark of the second period.
 
The Huskies followed up two minutes later with a goal from Jada Habisch, tying things up at 2-2.
 
The Friars regained the lead, 3-2, with a goal from Delaney Couture (Shrewsbury, Mass.) only 52 seconds into the final period. Bochna assisted on the play for her second point of the night.

Alex-Anne Boyer found the equalizer for the Huskies, 3-3, with 4:19 remaining in regulation.
 
Both teams were scoreless in overtime, ending regulation at a 3-3 tie.
 
Bochna scored in the shootout to give the Friars the extra point in the Hockey East standings.
 
Mireille Kingsley (Sudbury, Ontario) stopped 27-of-30 shots faced in net tonight, as well as four shootout attempts.
