Men's Soccer Rises To No. 16 In The National Poll

The Friars jump four spots in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National Poll.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team is ranked 16th in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National Poll, released on Oct. 19. It marks the fifth-consecutive week that the Friars have been among the top-25 in the national poll, and their No. 16 ranking is the highest of the season.
 
Providence is currently 8-2-3 on the year, including a 4-1-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference. The Friars are 3-1-0 vs. nationally ranked opponents this season, including a decisive 3-0 victory against then-No. 1 and previously unbeaten Georgetown on Oct. 13.
 
Providence features one of the most potent offenses in the nation. The Friars leads the BIG EAST and rank 16th among NCAA Division I soccer programs in scoring offense, with an average of 2.38 goals per game. Providence also leads the league in total assists (31) and ranks 11th in the nation. Additionally, Providence leads the conference and ranks 12th in the nation in total goals (31) and total points (93).  
 
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23 against BIG EAST foe Connecticut. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars are unbeaten at Anderson Stadium this season, having posted a 5-0-1 mark.
