Men's Basketball Holds Intra-Squad Scrimmage

AJ Reeves leads all scorers with 31 points.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence men's basketball team held an intra-squad scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 15 at Alumni Hall. The Black Team defeated the White Team, 65-63, in a game that went into two short overtime periods. Senior AJ Reeves led all scorers with 31 points on a 7-11 performance from behind the three-point arc. He was 11-16 overall from the field. Â
The teams played two, 16-minute halves. After the 32 minutes of action, the game was tied at 60-60. The teams then played a two-minute overtime and were tied at 63-63 after 34 minutes. In the final, one minute overtime, graduate student Al Durham hit two free-throws with 17 seconds left to break a 63-63 tie and give the Black Team a 65-63 win.
Durham finished 19 points as he was 3-6 from three-point territory. Senior Ed Croswell was the other player to score in double figures for the Black Team as he had 11 points.
Junior Jared Bynum led the White Team with 22 points. Junior Brycen Goodine added 16 points as he wsa 6-9 from the field.
The Friars will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 21 when they open the exhibition season versus Stonehill at 7 p.m. at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
