PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams will travel to the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. for the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Oct. 15. The race will be held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. The women's race will start at 1:20 p.m. (EST), followed by the men's race at 2:00 p.m. (EST).

The Friar women enter the race ranked 19
th nationally and first in the Northeast Region. The men's team comes in ranked sixth in the Northeast Region. Both the men's and women's team will be competing in a field of 20 out of the top 30 nationally ranked programs.
Graduate students
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.),
David McGlynn (Waterford, Ireland), and
AJ Ernst (Marblehead, Mass.) will lead the Friars at the line. The Friar men won their season opener as a team at the Friar Invitational, and placed fifth at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown. Rocha led the Friar men to a fifth-place finish at the Battle in Beantown with a seventh-place finish (24:15). For his performance, he earned his second BIG EAST cross country honor of the season when he was named Athlete of the Week. Rocha has led his team in both races this fall. McGlynn was the seconder finisher for the men, placing 23
rd in a time of 24:54. Ernst placed 50
th overall, in a time of 25:17.4.
Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand),
Ryan Gallagher (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.),
David Rosas (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.), Patrick Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia), and
Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand) also will be traveling for the Friar men.
Leading the pack for the women will be sophomore
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland), junior Lily Tuck (Sunderland, Canada), and graduate student
Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.). Mooney led the women to a second-place finish at the Battle of Beantown, maintaining a top-10 position throughout the duration of the race and finishing strong with an eighth-place finish in a time of 17:21. Tuck and Coffin were the next finishers for the Friar women, placing 14
th in 17:31.2 and 15
th in 17:31.5, respectively.
Holly Brennan (Bettystown, Co. Meath, Ireland),
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England),
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand),
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland), and
Orla O'Connor (Waterford, Ireland) also will be traveling for the Friar women.
Following the Nuttycombe Invitational, the Friars will travel to New Britain, Conn. on Oct. 22 for the CCSU Mini Meet.
