No. 15 Men's Hockey Drops 3-2 Decision to Merrimack

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Liam Walsh scored with 3:43 remaining to lift Merrimack to 3-2 win over the No. 15 Providence College men's hockey team on Saturday night at Lawler Rink. Freshman Patrick Moynihan scored both goals for the Friars, his 12th and 13th tallies of the season.

NOTES
- Providence raced out to a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes on the strength of a pair of Patrick Moynihan goals. Moynihan registered his 10th power-play goal and 13th marker overall this season. Tyce Thompson assisted on both goals.
- Declan Carlile scored his second goal of the weekend to tie the game at 1-1 prior Moynihan's second of the night.
- Merrimack tied things up midway through the second period on Tyler Irvine's power-play goal at the 10:46 mark.
- Providence dominated play in the third period, outshooting the Warriors by a 22-4 margin.
- However, it was Merrimack that struck for the game-winning goal as Liam Walsh finished off a loose puck with 3:43 remaining.
- The Friars couldn't find the equalizer with the extra attacker for the final 1:37 of play.
- Jack Dugan became the first Friar to record 50 points in a season since 2000-01 (Devin Rask) and the 29th member of the program overall to accomplish the feat.
- Thompson recorded his 15th multi-point game of the season.
- Moynihan registered his first career multi-goal performance and had a game-high seven shots on goal.
