DeBlois’ Career Night Propels Providence Over No. 3 Northeastern, 2-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Lauren DeBlois tallied the first multi-goal game of her career to propel the Providence College women's hockey team over the No. 3 Northeastern Huskies, 2-1, on Friday, Feb. 14 in Boston, Mass. Providence improved to 16-11-4 this season, including a 13-9-2 mark in the Hockey East.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Northeastern wasted little time getting on the board first, tallying a goal just 56 seconds into the opening period. Hartman put a shot on net that trickled to the near post, Katy Knoll finished the rebound to take a 1-0 lead.

- Providence held a 10-9 advantage in shots at the end of the first period with Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) recording eight saves in net.

- The Friars converted on their second power play of the night at 16:04 in the second period. Providence used just five seconds on its 4-on-3 advantage to find the equalizer. Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) won the face-off in the offensive zone dishing the puck back to Whitney Dove (Port Moody, British Columbia). Dove slid the puck to DeBlois at the point who put a wrist shot through traffic into the top left corner of the cage. It marked DeBlois' fourth goal of the season and 19th point overall. Hjalmarsson earned her 10th assist of the season on the goal while Dove was credited for her 18th assist of the year.

- The game was knotted at 1-1 entering the third period, with Providence holding a 19-18 advantage in shots.

- Neither side could capitalize in the final frame, putting the Friars into overtime for the third time in the last four games.

- Northeastern was whistled for holding with 2:09 left in overtime before DeBlois netted the game-winner for her second goal of the night. It marked the first multi-goal performance of her career. Dove and Hjalmarsson were credited with the assists.

- Abstreiter posted 31 saves in the victory, making multiple game-saving stops down the stretch.

- The Friars outshot the Huskies, 39-32.

- Providence improves to 2-0 this season against No. 3 Northeastern and is responsible for two of the Huskies' four losses on the season overall.
