COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Providence College's Brett Berard (East Greenwich, R.I.), Cam McDonald (Eagle River, Alaska) and Patrick Moynihan (Millis, Mass.) were named as three of 29 players invited by USA Hockey to its 2021 U.S. National Junior Team Training Camp that will begin on Dec. 6 in Plymouth, Michigan.

The camp is part of the evaluation process in selecting the 25-player U.S. National Junior Team roster that will compete in the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship Dec. 25, 2020, through Jan. 5, 2021, in Edmonton, Alberta. The final roster will be announced on Dec. 13, prior to the team's departure from Plymouth to Edmonton that day.

Current Friar Head Coach Nate Leaman was selected to lead the 2021 U.S. National Junior Team and he'll be joined by current Director of Hockey Operations Theresa Feaster as a video coach for the tournament.

The United States enters the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship seeking its fifth medal in six years after earning a record four-consecutive medals: gold in 2017, silver in 2019, and bronze in both 2018 and 2016.

Berard, who will begin his freshman season with the Friars in 2020-21, spent two seasons in the U.S. National Team Development Program while recording 16 goals and 18 assists with the U18s in 2019-20. He was selected by the New York Rangers in the fifth round (134th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft back in October.

McDonald, who enters his sophomore season with the Friars, posted three goals and three assists while appearing in all 34 games for Providence during the 2019-20 season. Along with teammate Max Crozier, McDonald led all NCAA freshmen defensemen with three game-winning goals during the 2019-20 season.

Moynihan, a 2019 draft choice of the New Jersey Devils (6th round, 158th overall), posted 13 goals and eight assists as a freshman with the Friars in 2019-20. His 10 power-play goals ranked fourth in the NCAA and led all NCAA rookies in that category. Prior to Providence, he also spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program.
