PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's soccer team improved to 3-2-0 on Saturday, Sept. 14 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium after defeating the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 4-0. Providence now holds a 14-0-1 all-time record against Sacred Heart.

Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass) opened the scoring in the sixth minute of play.
Joao Serrano (Evora, Portugal) played the ball down the left sideline to
Esben Wolf (Copenhagen, Denmark), who one touched a cross that Smith headed home near post. The goal marked Smith's second of the season.
- CJ Weinstein was penalized with a red card in the 20th minute which forced the Pioneers to play with 10 men for the remainder of the match.

Andualem Chisholm (North Attleboro, Mass.) extended the lead to 2-0 prior to halftime.
Esben Wolf tallied his second assist of the afternoon playing a low cross to Chisholm on the edge of the six-yard box. Chisholm chipped the goalie as he was on the ground battling for the ball.

Danny Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.) scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick to make it a 3-0 Friars lead.
- To cap off the scoring,
Kevin Vang (Cranston, R.I.) scored his first career goal in the 81
st minute.
Matt DePerro (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) turned over a Pioneers defender before slipping a through ball to Vang which Vang slotted home with his left foot.
- Providence outshot the Pioneers 24-2 in the match and didn't allow a shot attempt in the second half.
