PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team fell to the UMass Minutewomen, 1-0, on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. UMass scored an early goal in the 10
th minute and held the Friars scoreless for the remainder of the match. Providence falls to 1-1-0 to open the season on home turf.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Junior Kelly Marra gave UMass a 1-0 advantage in the 10
th minute of play. Freshman Ansley Frazier slipped a through ball through the defense before Marra finished the shot with her right foot under
Shelby Hogan's (Franklin, Mass.) right side.
- Freshman
Angie Suaza (Nashua, N.H.) earned 33 minutes off the bench. She tallied three shots and came close to evening the game with four minutes left in the half. Suaza put a move on the right back before ripping a shot that was deflected by the goalkeeper.
- Providence earned a penalty kick late in the match but
Christina Rodgers (Scotch Plains, N.J.) failed to convert after trying to slot the ball in the bottom right corner. Goalkeeper Peyton Ryan made a diving stop.
- The Friars outshot the Minutewomen 14-13 in the game and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. Hogan made five saves in the contest.

Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) led the Providence offense for the second-consecutive game, this time with four shots and two on net.
