PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Luwane Pipkins (Chicago, Ill.) has signed a scholarship offer to attend Providence College in 2019-20.  Pipkins, who has one year of eligibility remaining, played three years at UMass and will graduate this spring.  As a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play next season for the Friars.

In three seasons at UMass, Pipkins averaged 15.7 points, 3.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 90 games. Pipkins scored 1,416 points during that time.  He also shot 35 percent from three-point territory after making 226 of 645 attempts.

In 2017-18, Pipkins had a breakout season, averaging 21.2 points and shooting 42.6 percent from beyond the arc.  In recognition of his efforts, he was named A-10 Co-Most Improved Player and Second Team All-Conference in 2018.  Pipkins set the UMass record for most points scored in a game when he registered 44 points in a win over La Salle on January 10, 2018.

In 2018-19, Pipkins averaged 16.0 points, 5.2 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game.

"We are excited that Luwane will be playing for the Friars next season," Providence College Head Coach Ed Cooley said.  "He is a very talented point guard who will help make our team better.  Over the last three seasons, Luwane was always one of the most dynamic players that we competed against."
