Nogic selected as Providence College's RIAIAW Distinguished Student-Athlete of the Year.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– Senior women's basketball player Jovana Nogic (Belgrade, Serbia) was honored by The Rhode Island Association For Intercollegiate Athletics For Women (RIAIAW) as Providence College's Distinguished Student-Athlete of the Year.  Nogic was joined by winners from each of Rhode Island's colleges and universities at an awards ceremony held on Monday, April 15 at URI's Thomas M. Ryan Center in Kingston, R.I.
 
Nogic, a two-time All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention selection and Ann Meyers Drysdale Award candidate, finished her career at Providence College ranked fourth all-time in scoring with 1,724 points (125 games).  She posted 85 double-digit games during her career, including 26 games with 20-or-more points.  Additionally, Nogic tallied 1,013 points in her final two seasons of action with the Friars, spanning just 66 games.
 
She left her mark in the record books, setting Providence College program marks for career three-point field goals (323), single-season three-point field goals (93 in 2018-19), career free-throw percentage (.909, 229-252) and single-season free-throw percentage (.945, 86-91).  Nogic also finished career ranked third all-time in the BIG EAST Conference in three-point field goals during regular-season conference play (167).
 
As a senior in 2018-19, Nogic helped guide the Friars to their first post-season appearance since 2010 as part of the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).  Providence advanced to the Round of 16, compiling a 2-1 record. Nogic averaged a team-best 19.3 points during the WNIT and added 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steal per game.
 
Prior to earning an at-large selection to the WNIT, Nogic and the Friars claimed their first BIG EAST Tournament win since 2001, defeating Xavier, 70-62, in the First Round on March 9 in Chicago, Ill.  Overall, the Friars completed the season with a 19-16 record and finished in a tie for sixth place in the BIG EAST standings with an 8-10 mark.
 
Nogic, who is pursuing her undergraduate degree in computer science, is expected to graduate from Providence College in May. She is a three-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection.
