RALEIGH, N.C. - The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams competed on the final day of Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State on Saturday, March 31. Providence finished the day with three Friars running personal bests.
Sophomore
Chris Shanahan (Westwood, Mass.) was the highlight of the day for Friars in the men's javelin. Shanahan threw a personal best of 60.67m and broke his own school record in his flight. He would go on to qualify for the finals and place fifth overall. Shanahan's throw was another personal best (61.64m) and new school record.
Sophomore
Jack Carleo (Newburyport, Mass.) had a strong showing in the men's 800 meters finishing third in his heat and ninth overall. Carleo would run a time of 1:51.48 setting a new personal best.
The 4x800 Meter Relay team of
Michael O'Leary (Saint James, N.Y.),
Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand),
Marcus Kemp (Kitchener, Ontario) and
Michael Wyman (Marion, Mass.) placed seventh overall in a time of 7:37.63. It was a strong opener for the Friars in the 4x800 meter relay for the outdoor season.

Ryan Jendzejec – 800 meters, 1:53.46
The Friars are back in action on Friday, April 12 to host the Ocean State Invitational in Providence, R.I. Events will begin at 4:55 p.m.
