Alpha Diallo Named NABC All-District 5 Second Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced on Thursday, March 21 that Providence junior guard Alpha Diallo (New York, N.Y.) was named to the NABC All-District 5 Second Team. Earlier this month, Diallo also was named to the USBWA All-District 1 Team and All-BIG EAST Second Team.
Diallo finished the season averaging 16.0 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest. He led the team in points (543), steals (56), assists (106), free throws (151) and minutes (1206). Diallo scored his season-high 27 points in the second game of the season against Wichita State, while adding 10 rebounds and five assists. He recorded 10 double-doubles throughout the season which leads the BIG EAST. In BIG EAST play Diallo ranked third in rebounding averaging 8.0 per game, 12th in scoring with 15.2 points per game and tied for seventh in steals with 26 overall.
The Friars concluded the season with an 18-16 overall record and 7-11 mark in BIG EAST action to earn the eight seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Providence posted a 1-1 record in the BIG EAST Tournament. The Friars season ended on Tuesday when the squad was defeated in the First Round of the NIT by Arkansas.
