Sara Hjalmarsson’s two-goal performance helped lift the Friars over the Huskies.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Providence College women's hockey team defeated the Northeastern Huskies by a score of 5-2 on Sunday, Feb. 17 at Matthews Arena. The Friars have reached the 20-win mark for the first time since 2010-11.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
- Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) got Providence on the board with a wrister at the 7:46 mark of the first period. Her 10th goal of the season was assisted by Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) and Cassidy MacPherson (Oakville, Ontario).
- Lunny's assist was her eighth of the season, while MacPherson's was her 10th.
- Shortly after the goal, a flurry off three penalties occurred, including two on Providence.
- Northeastern capitalized on the 4-on-3, as Skylar Fontaine scored her third goal of the weekend. Her one-timer was assisted by Alina Mueller and Codie Cross.
- The Huskies scored another power-play goal late in the period. Tori Sullivan buried a rebound at the back post with under 30 seconds on the clock. Fontaine assisted the play, earning her second point of the game.
- Providence responded, scoring twice in the opening five minutes of the second period. Hjalmarsson notched her second of the game at the 4:01 mark before Neve Van Pelt (Mitchell, Ontario) added a goal at 5:14 to give the Friars the lead.
- Hjalmarsson was assisted by MacPherson once again. Van Pelt's goal came from Ariane Julien (Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec) and Giana Savastano (Mapleville, R.I.).\
- The Friars continued to control the middle period, outshooting the Huskies 11-4 over the 20 minutes.
- Providence increased its lead to two goals near the midpoint of the third period. Christina Putigna (Grimsby, Ontario) played a long pass up to Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.). She skated deep into the zone and dropped a pass for Putigna to one-time past Frankel.
- Putigna's goal was her 11th of the season, as was Rickard's assist.
- Rickard capped the game with an empty-net goal at 18:38 of the final period. Her unassisted goal was her eighth of the season.
- Hjalmarsson's multi-goal game was the second of her career.
- Rickard has now scored in each of the last four games.
- Madison Myers (Colchester, Vt.) made 19 saves in her 19th win of the season. Frankel made 24 in her first Hockey East loss of the season.
- This is the first season that the Friars have reached the 20-win mark since 2010-11.
