PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College sophomore forward
Mary Baskerville (Enfield, Conn.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Dec. 9. She guided the Friars to a 2-1 record last week, and also was named Most Outstanding Player at the 4
th Annual Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament on Dec. 8.
In three games, Baskerville averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game, and shot 63.3-percent from the field (19-30). In the Friars' lone loss, she tallied 19 points and nine rebounds against Yale. That game originally began on Nov. 5, before it was suspended at halftime. The Friars and Bulldogs completed the second half of play on Dec. 3 in New Haven, Conn.
At the Ocean State Tip-Off in Smithfield, R.I., Baskerville tallied 14 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes of action against Bryant. She followed with 15 points and five rebounds in the championship game against Rhode Island. Baskerville scored 11 of her 15 points in a decisive fourth quarter effort, while shooting 4-4 from the field, to give Providence a 58-51 victory.
The Friars head into final exam week with a 7-1 overall record and will return to action on Dec. 16 against Utah. The game is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. (ET) and will be played in Salt Lake City, Utah.
