Friars were leading the Bulldogs 42-33 at halftime before a scoreboard malfunction forced officials to suspend play.

NEW HAVEN, CONN.– The Providence College women's basketball team traveled to New Haven, Conn. to face Yale in the 2019-20 season opener on Nov. 5 at John J. Lee Amphitheater. The game was suspended at halftime due to a scoreboard malfunction, with the Friars leading 42-33. The two schools will work together to find a mutually agreed upon date to complete the final 20 minutes of play, and additional details will be released when available.

FIRST QUARTER
• Friars used a 7-0 run over a span of 2:10 to take a 13-6 lead in the first quarter with under three minutes to play.

• Yale went on a 6-0 run with 1:13 to play to get within three (19-16), but junior Andrea Cooper (Edmond, Okla.) hit one of two free throws with .3-seconds left on the clock to give the Friars a 20-16 lead at the break.

• Providence shot 53-percent from the field in the opening 10 minutes (8-15), including 50-percent from beyond the arc (3-6).

• Seven players cracked the scoring column led by Kaela Webb's (Pontiac, Mich.) six points.

SECOND QUARTER:
• Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Mary Baskerville (Enfield, Conn.) scored the Friars' first eight points of the second quarter to give Providence a 28-18 lead and force a Yale timeout at the 7:02 mark. Baskerville returned from the timeout to add two more points at the foul line (30-18).

• The Friars led by as many as 16 in the second quarter (38-22), but the Bulldogs managed to cut the deficit to seven (40-33) with 27-seconds left.

Kyra Spiwak (Arlington Heights, Ill.) knocked down a baseline jumper at the buzzer to send Providence to the locker room at halftime with a 42-33 advantage.

• Baskerville and Webb combined to score 24 of the Friars' 42 first-half points, tallying 12 points each.

• Providence committed 15 fouls in the first half, allowing Yale to record 13 of their 33 points (13-19).
