PROVIDENCE, R.I.Providence College's Greg Printz (Fairfax, Va.) was named the Hockey East Player of the Week and goaltender Michael Lackey (Washington, D.C.) was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement made on Monday (Oct. 7).

Printz tallied a career-high four goals and five points in Providence's 7-0 win over Maine in the regular season opener on Saturday night, including a natural hat trick in the third period. It was the first four-goal game by a Friar since Devin Rask in 2002.

Lackey, in his debut as a Friar after spending four seasons at Harvard, pitched his second career shutout after turning away all 29 shots he faced. The shutout marked the 98th in program history and was the first season-opening shutout by the Friars since 2000.

Providence returns to action this weekend as they play host to Holy Cross on Friday (Oct. 11) and the U.S. National Team Development Program on Saturday (Oct. 12).
