- The Friars were strong on the kill, allowing just two shots for Vermont during the three extra man opportunities.
- Providence scored two goals 1:24 apart in the middle of the second period to jump out to a 2-0 lead.

- Soon after, Emily Landry (Orangeville, Ontario) notched her third of the season. She made a nifty move to beat her defender, shot into Black's pads and then buried her own rebound. Cassidy MacPherson (Oakville, Ontario) and Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) assisted the play.
- With less than two minutes to play in the period, Vermont cut into the lead. Maude Poulin-Labelle scored her third career goal to make it 2-1. Alyssa Gorecki and Lilly Holmes assisted the goal.
- The third period featured back-and-forth action with several more penalties for both sides.
