Mikayla Michals nets her second goal of the season as team wraps of West Coast trip.
STOCKTON, CALIF. - The Providence College field hockey team fell to Pacific, 2-1, on Monday, Aug. 27 in Stockton, Calif. Junior midfielder Mikayla Michals (Needham, Mass.) tallied the Friars' lone goal of the game with 6:50 remaining in regulation. Michals has scored in each of the last two games for Providence, who falls to 0-3 on the year. Pacific improved to 2-1 with the victory.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS & NOTES
- Pacific took an early lead in the game as Rylee Comeau tallied her second goal off the season off a feed from Gabriella Fondario.
- Pacific attempted the first six shots of the game, but the Friars settled in and put pressure on the Tigers late in the first half.
- The Tigers held an 11-6 advantage in shots, while Providence held a 4-3 edge in penalty corners after the first 35 minutes of play.
- Pacific took a 2-0 lead as Fondario made a nice touch on a pass from Taylor Dempsey as the two entered the circle. Fondario's touch redirected a slow-moving ball just out of the reach of the Friars' goalkeeper and into the back right of the cage.
- The Friars cut the deficit to 2-1 just 2:55 later as Michals notched her second goal of the season on a penalty corner. Senior Corinne Kenney (Warrington, Pa.) was credited with the assist after feeding the ball toward the cage for Michals' tip-in.
- Providence out-played the Tigers in the second half, with a 7-3 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in penalty corners.
- For the game, the Tigers outshot the Friars, 14-13, while Providence mounted an 8-4 advantage in corners.
- Lyida Rice (Carle Place, N.Y.) made her second start in goal for Providence and finished with a career-high eight saves. The Tigers' goalkeeper, Marlise van Tonder, played a key role in Pacific's victory with 10 saves.
- Providence also forced Pacific into making three defensive saves in the game.
